Abolitionist Teaching Network

WHAT IS IT 

Abolitionist Teaching Network (ATN) supports educators fighting injustice through a variety of programs and services. They give out awards and grants and are developing a program to connect teachers with activists in residence. Most famously, ATN released the Guide for Racial Justice & Abolitionist Social and Emotional Learning in the form of a free PDF that frames abolitionist teaching with a Social-Emotional learning framework. They even produce a podcast called Teaching to Thrive! You can follow ATN on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter. 

WHY WE LIKE IT 

EMPOWERMENT—Abolitionist Teaching Network leverages teachers' and workers' power by offering resources for agitators and activists. 

FLEXIBILITY—ATN actively challenges and disrupts inequitable systems that fail students with diverse learning needs. 

CURIOSITY—ATN's Virtual Freedom School is a completely free online resource that helps kids ages 9-14 grapple with big questions about freedom. 

UTILITY—ATN's Guide for Racial Justice and Abolitionist Social & Emotional Learning is a starting point for integrating abolitionist teaching and learning.
