Oregon Writing Project (K-12)

WHAT IT IS

Oregon Writing Project (OWP), part of the National Writing Project, provides resources for educators of all disciplines and grade levels to support writing and learning in schools and communities. OWP partners with schools and communities to develop and sustain leadership for educational improvement.

WHY WE LIKE IT

EMPOWERMENT—OWP aims to incorporate multiple ways of knowing in order to support diverse educational opportunities and perspectives.

FLEXIBILITY—OWP offers online curriculum as well as professional development opportunities for teachers and school leadership.

CURIOSITY—OWP also offers a range of programs for use of writing across the curriculum and grade levels to improve student writing, thinking, learning, and, based on Common Core State Standards, academic achievement in a global society.

UTILITY—OWP partners with schools and communities to develop and sustain leadership for educational improvement.

TIPS

OWP is a part of the National Writing Project which works to build connections and learning through writing across the country. Other writing communities can be found through their website.

The teaching materials offer search filters to make searching by genre, grade level, type, and subject.
